The Volkswagen California celebrates its 25 year anniversary
- Three generations: 100,000 California camper vans built since 1988
Hannover/Essen, 8 April 2013: Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is celebrating the 25th birthday of the Volkswagen California at Techno Classica (10 to 14 April 2013). The vehicle’s production figures are fitting for an anniversary: around 100,000 California vans have come off the assembly line over the past 25 years. A short retrospective of the history of this classic vehicle can be seen at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles booth in Hall 7. It begins with the T3, covers the T4 and progresses to today’s T5. Naturally, the vehicle’s T1 and T2 ancestors complete the recreational vehicle’s show appearance.

- Crafter, Multivan and Amarok at work for “The Grand Budapest Hotel”
Hanover/Görlitz, 26 March 2013 – The spotlight is shining on the small town of Görlitz in Saxony right now. The American visionary director Wes Anderson (“The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Darjeeling Limited,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, “Moonrise Kingdom”) is shooting his new film “The Grand Budapest Hotel” here, and top-flight Hollywood stars are thronging to Görlitz. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles sees to it that the actors get from the set to the hotel and back without their feet getting wet.

Berlin/ Hannover, 21.03.2013 - Rock musician and lead guitar player Rudolf Schenker of “The Scorpions,” the most successful German rock band, drove up in person in his Scorpions Amarok by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles to attend the 22nd Echo Award in Berlin.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles achieves respectable results in 2012
- Deliveries and sales reach record levels

Hannover, 15 March 2013: In the 2012 business year, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles increased its global deliveries to a record level of 550,370 city delivery vans, transporters and pickups (2011: 528,900; +4.1 per cent). Sales grew to 9,450 billion euros (2011: 8,985 billion euros; +5.2 per cent). Operating profit were 421 million euros (2011: 449 million euros; -6.1 per cent).

World premiere in Geneva: Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles presents the e-Co-Motion concept vehicle
- Electrically powered city delivery van could transport goods with zero emissions in the future
Hannover / Geneva, 04 March 2013. The global trend towards increasingly larger cities with 10, 15 or 20 million residents is associated with growing demands for transport solutions – more and more products and goods will need to be delivered to cities and transported away from them. At the same time, legal authorities are demanding significant reductions in greenhouse gases and emissions as well as compliance with more stringent CO2 limits. Moreover, many large cities are implementing vehicle access restrictions to avoid smog and fine particulate pollution. The e-Co-Motion concept vehicle, an electrically powered city delivery van from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, now offers a potential solution.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles further extends its top position in the European Economic Area* in 2012
- T5 and Caddy are the most successful models in Europe and Germany
Hannover, 21 February 2013: In 2012, in Europe nearly one out of five and in Germany one out of three newly registered city delivery vans, transporters and pickups came from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. With 301,000 newly registered Caddy, T5, Crafter and Amarok vehicles, the share of city delivery vans, transporters and pickups (2011: 16.6 per cent) for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles was 18.3 per cent – that was the result of the year 2012.

Most powerful Caddy ever in many versions
- Top engine now available for many other Caddy versions

Hannover, 05-02-2013 – Last year, the anniversary model Caddy Edition 30 caused a stir as a top model with a sporty look and the most powerful TDI engine in the Caddy range. Now the 125 kW / 170 PS TDI is also available in other Caddy models. Bi-xenon headlights are also available now in the Caddy. Both options are exclusive to the segment of city delivery vehicles and compact vans.

Amarok now offers more driving fun and comfort
- 103-kW TDI replaces previously offered 90-kW TDI
- Better driving performance with same low fuel consumption
- Reversing camera, RNS 510 navigation system and auxiliary heating can now be ordered
Hannover, 01-02-2013 – The successful Amarok pickup is getting a more powerful base engine for the new year: the previous 2.0 TDI with 90 kW / 122 PS is being replaced by a more powerful version. The new entry-level TDI produces 103 kW / 140 PS – and this improves driving performance while keeping fuel consumption at the same unchanged low level. Many new features have also been added to the options programme.
